The speaker is a final-year PhD student based in Berlin, supervised by Marc Kegel. He is interested in low-dimensional topology, especially in open book decompositions on 3- and 4-manifolds.
This talk is aimed at a general mathematical audience. We will explore a special class of links in 3-manifolds, called fibered links, whose complements admit a fibration over the circle. I will discuss recent progress, based on joint work with B. Bode, on a question posed by Montesinos and Morton in the 1990s about how fibered links can be constructed—a question that remains open today.
This talk is partially supported by IMUS. This time the talk will take place at Seminar II at IMUS.
